It’s worth a shot!” -Dr. Ocasio
About DR. OCASIO
Dr. Frank Ocasio is a board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain management specialist who has been in practice for more than a decade. He is the Director of Acute Pain Management, as well as the Chair of Pain Management at Huntington Hospital.
In addition, he pioneered the Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) Committee at Huntington Hospital. This unique program aims to accelerate recovery times and improve patient outcomes for some of the most painful musculoskeletal and neurological procedures, including orthopedic and spine surgery. Dedicated to continuing education, Dr. Ocasio is also an assistant professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
Dr. Ocasio earned his medical degree from the prestigious Weill Cornell Medical College, where he also completed his anesthesiology residency. After graduation, he continued his specialized training at several medical institutions, including Cornell New York Presbyterian, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and the Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Ocasio also received specialty training at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he completed his fellowship in Interventional Pain Management. Along with his medical credentials, Dr. Ocasio holds a master’s degree from Seton Hall University.

PAIN MANAGEMENT SPECIALTY
Before Dr. Ocasio ventured into interventional pain management and anesthesia, he obtained his massage therapy certificate and even opened a massage therapy school. With a passion for treating pain, he eventually enrolled in a physical therapy program. He developed a growing interest in clinical medicine and enrolled in the physician’s assistant program. Ultimately, Dr. Ocasio realized becoming a doctor was the right path for his interests and goals. Knowing he wanted to enroll in a top school, he completed an additional 2 years of education to earn his master’s degree in neuroscience. From there, he specialized in anesthesiology before completing his interventional pain management fellowship.

EXCEPTIONAL PATIENT CARE
Providing his patients with lasting relief from pain is Dr. Ocasio’s top priority. With a strong background in anesthesiology and interventional pain management, Dr. Ocasio understands that there is no one-size-fits-all treatment for pain. Instead, he takes a multi-modality approach to care to relieve pain, restore function, and improve his patients’ quality of life without medications. While medication may temporarily mask pain, Dr. Ocasio’s approach targets its root cause for long-term relief.
Dr. Ocasio views patient care as a collaborative experience. He never prioritizes money or time over quality care and routinely offers 30-60-minute visits, in which patients have an appropriate amount of time to explain their pain, discuss their symptoms, and undergo a complete physical exam and medical history review. With cutting-edge interventions at his boutique practice, Dr. Ocasio is proud to provide his patients with the most advanced pain management treatments available.

CUTTING-EDGE TREATMENTS
In his pursuit to treat acute and chronic pain, Dr. Ocasio knows that complete restoration is better than management. He believes the field of pain management is shifting in a new direction. Rather than temporarily reducing pain with cortisone injections, which have been shown to expedite degeneration, Dr. Ocasio hopes to restore musculoskeletal function with regenerative techniques. Stem cell therapy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and orthobiologic agents continue to rise in popularity due to their regenerative nature. Through continuing research, Dr. Ocasio imagines a world in which patients seek regenerative therapy the moment they notice a new ache or pain.
Personal History
Dr. Ocasio was born in New York City, but raised in Morris County, New Jersey. After completing his undergraduate and graduate studies in his home state, he moved back to New York for medical school and residency. Dr. Ocasio went on to practice anesthesiology in Long Island, where he met his wife. After having two children, he began an interventional pain management fellowship at Mt. Sinai Hospital and launched his practice in July 2020.
